Abstract
This is the case report of a 51-year-old woman diagnosed of a ductal breast carcinoma, with no relevant personal or family history of disease. During the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social occupational medicine assessment to determine possible disability, no history of occupational exposure to toxins, ionizing radiation, or chemicals was identified. However, a disruption of the circadian cycle was found for 9 years with a total of 1,424 nights worked and no preventive measures. The occupational risk was identified due to the disruption of the circadian cycle and its association with overweight and changes in physical activity due to work activity. Therefore, it was recognized as an occupational disease, as the presence of occupational risks for breast cancer was demonstrated, along with the need for preventive measures regarding work schedules.
